Emirates Airline literature festival
29 January – 13 February 2021

The Emirates Airline Literature Festival is the one of the largest celebrations bringing together home-grown local talent, as well as acclaimed international authors. This is a fantastic opportunity for attending literary debates, participating in workshops and the chance to meet some amazing authors. Elif Shafak, Amin Maalouf and Lemn Sissay will be attending this year. The event begins at the Jameel Arts Centre, followed by highlight features over the weekend from 4 to 6 February at the InterContinental in Festival City and at Alserkal Avenue from 12 to 13 February.

Giselle at Dubai Opera
4 February – 8 February 2021

Dubai Opera raises the curtains for the breathtaking Russian State Ballet and Opera House performance of Giselle. Original libretto by French playwright Jules-Henru Vernoy de Saint-Georges, poet Theriphile Gautier and music by Adolphe Adam. The ballet tells the story of a young ill peasant girl of the name Giselle who falls in love with a handsome Prince named Albreacht. This breathtaking ballet is filled with romance, tragedy and most importantly, hope. 

Tickets for this opera range from AED 300 – AED 800 and can be purchased at Dubai Opera.

Wadi Bih Run: Hatta
5 February 2021

Run one of the UAE’s most rugged terrains on foot. The Wadi Bih Run in Hatta consists of four challenging routes to choose from – 10km, 20km, 30km, and 70km. Each circuit takes you through the natural landscape, so you’ll also get to discover the UAE’s most beautiful natural scenery along your way.

The race begins at the JA Hatta Fort Hotel. After the race there will also be lunch served at the hotel.

Laugh-A-Thon with Rahul Dua

Controversial stand-up comedian, Rahul Dua and first runner-up in season one of Amazon Prime’s Comicstaan, is performing on Dubai’s Queen Elizabeth II. Based on a variety of topics such as telemarketing pranks and big city disillusionment to expensive jeans, this fast-paced, boisterous and unbeatably charming act should not be one to be missed.

This exciting event is a great opportunity for anyone who loves to get out on the water and have some fun, gain experience, practice and show off their water talents in a series of events, ranging from aqua biking to motor-surfing. Take advantage of this event as it is absolutely free and will commence at Al Mamzar Beach Park.

David Guetta – United at Home: Dubai Edition
6 February 2021

David Guetta, one of the biggest artists within the dance music scene, will be pumping tunes for a virtual edition of his United at Home tour. Fans in Dubai and across the globe will be able to tune into David Guetta’s YouTube channel for an online-streamed performance, which promises all of his top tracks. This is another amazing free event on the amazing Burj Al Arab’s helipad from 6 pm. This is a fundraiser event, all proceeds received will go towards UNICEF, as well as Dubai Cares’ Education Uninterrupted campaign, a nationwide fundraising campaign that tackles the impact of COVID-19 on education. This will be his fourth gig of the series.

Desert Warrior Challenge

Do you have what it takes to conquer this year’s Desert Warrior Challenge? There are four courses loaded with tough obstacles to push your limits. If this seems a little too tough for you, there always is the Fearless Warrior, which consists of a 5km track with 12 obstacles, or level up with the Ultimate Warrior, perfect for seasoned sporting stars brave enough for a 10km track with more than 20 hurdles. The toughest terrain, the Extreme Warrior, will suit professional athletes which consist of at least 30 obstacles along a 20km course.
