Top Arab Investors in Dubai Real Estate Market

As per the latest Dubai Land Department (DLD) Real Estate Research and Studies Department report, UAE nationals formed the largest UAE real estate investor segment for the first half of 2016. Expat Indian nationals were the second highest spenders whereas Emiratis invested AED 14.52 billion through 4,543 investments and Indians pumped in AED 7.27 billion between January-June 2016.

The UAE and Dubai real estate market also saw investments pouring in from nearly 26,000 investors, comprising 149 nationalities, with total investments worth AED 57 billion, according to DLD data.

GCC Investors

While Emiratis lead the way, Saudi Arabia nationals followed suit, investing AED 4 billion from 1,946 transactions. Kuwaitis secured the third position, contributing to the UAE real estate market with over AED 1 billion worth transactions, followed by Qatari, Omani and Bahraini nationals.

Investors from outside the GCC

Close to 16 Arab nationalities from outside the GCC also made huge contributions to the UAE real estate market, investing over AED 7 billion through 7,577 deals. Jordanians came in first, with investments of over AED 1.5 billion through 765 transactions followed by Egyptians, who invested about AED 1.37 billion through 710 transactions and Lebanese nationals, who brought in over AED 1 billion through 423 transactions to the UAE real estate market.

Expat investors

Indians led the way, followed by British nationals, who purchased UAE real estate worth AED 4 billion through 2,010 transactions followed by Pakistanis, who brought in AED 3 billion through 2,073 transactions.

Russians have been reportedly showing renewed interest in Dubai and UAE real estate given the fall in the value of the rouble last year. Statistics published by leading real estate portals reveal a significant rise in overseas enquiries from Russian nationals during the first half of 2016.

Despite a slowdown in real estate values, the market has maintained its robust appeal this year, going by these numbers. The diversity of the investor base reflects the wide range of property options and styles offered by the UAE real estate market, investor confidence and sustainability of growth in the UAE economy.
