What’s coming up in July?

Well, wouldn’t you look at that? With June behind us, we are halfway through the year already!

The sweltering summer isn’t going away any time soon but that doesn’t mean the fun here in the emirate has to stop. From ex-1D member Louis Tomlinson to an anticipated holiday which looks promising to be a long weekend, there are plenty of activities lined up for July as a matter of fact.

So gear up! Here’s a list of things that we are looking forward to for the month ahead!

Dubai Summer Surprises 2022

Now on its 25th-edition, Dubai Summer Surprises marks its return with a special 25-hour city-wide sale, offering discounts of up to 90%, and a raffle draw with a grand prize of one million dirhams in cash! The festival will run from Friday, 1 July to Thursday, 4 September.

Minions: The Rise of Gru

Set to be one of the biggest animated movies of 2022, Minions: The Rise of Gru is set to hit theaters in July. A spin-off prequel and the fifth overall Despicable Me entry, the movie is set in the early 1970s and follows a 12-year-old Gru and his grand scheme to join Vicious 6, a supervillain supergroup. Together with Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and newcomer Otto, of course!

Louis Tomlinson

Louis Tomlinson World Tour 2022 sees the former boyband member promote Walls, his debut album released just before the pandemic struck. This makes this concert series Tomlinson’s first tour as a solo artist since One Direction disbanded in 2016. With the tour coming to an end this year, Tomlinson makes a stop in Dubai to perform at the Coca-Cola Arena.

Arafat & Eid Al Adha

Perhaps two of the most significant occasions in the Islamic Calendar, the Day of Arafat occurs a day before the start of Eid Al Adha, or The Feast of Sacrifice, which honors Prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience. This year, the holidays are expected to begin from Friday, 8 July, which means residents are looking at a four-day break until Monday, 11 July.
