What’s coming up in Dubai in June?

The events have taken a different form in the past few months since the coronavirus forced the government to impose restrictions on large public and private gatherings. Even as the restrictions are getting lifted, many residents don’t feel comfortable getting out in the crowd. Therefore, we decided to bring a selection of mostly virtual events you can enjoy at the safety of your sofa over the next few weeks.

Virtual Showcase: Alserkal Online

01 April – 30 June

We start our selection with a virtual art showcase organized by Dubia’s Alserkal Avenue available from 01 April to 30 June 2020. From the safe comfort of your home, you’ll be able to appreciate the latest exhibitions and take 360 tours of the renewed art incubators, including Green Art Gallery, Gallery Isabelle van den Eynde, Carbon 12, 1×1 Gallery, Ayyam Gallery, and more. Leila Heller Gallery brings you Material Anatomy by Francesca Pasquali, Habitat by Melis Buyruk, and Nuqta: The Diacritic by Abdel Qader Al Rais.

Dear Class of 2020

06 June

On 06 June you’ll be able to join the graduates of 2020 and listen to a virtual commencement speech “Dear Class of 2020” that will be delivered by Barack Obama, Lady Gaga, BTS and a number of other well-known celebrates. This year’s generation will be staggering into an unusual world, so we hope this speech will be uplifting for everyone. It will be streamed live on YouTube.

Live Meditation Session with Briony Gunson

During the lockdown period, many have embarked on different wellbeing journeys with yoga, meditation, and other mindfulness activities. Therefore, we just had to include an event that will help you further improve your Wellbeing. Every Friday at 1 PM you will be able to participate in a Live Meditation Session with Briony Gunson for free.

Electric Blockaloo Music Festival

June 25-28

This event is definitely something out of the box. Electric Blockaloo is a virtual music festival taking place inside Minecraft game from 25 June to 28 June. The festival will feature more than 300 artists, including DJ sets from JAUZ, Diplo, Tritonal, Getter, Lee Burridge, TOKiMONSTA, Nicole Moudaber, and many more – ensuring great music for the fans.

Respite, Russell Howard at Dubai Opera

26 June

The only live event on our list takes us to Dubai Opera. Russel Howard returns back on the stage in Dubai with his critically acclaimed tour “Respite”, offering an excellent opportunity to get clarity in these unprecedented times through good humour.
